lipbalm finishN

Hello gorgeous people!

After opening my eyes about the bad ingredients the “beauty industry”was using in our daily products, I started to make my own. I am a fervent user of lipbalms, I was so acrazy about them that I started to bring one back from every country I was traveling in ahah! Until I started to make my own and stopped the crazy addiction!

Honestly, since I’ve been using natural homemade lipbalms, my lips are better. I don’t need to put on lipbalm all the time anymore, the natural and good ingredients help my lips being moist and healthy. They regulate themselves better and don’t dry out because of bad ingredients. Yes, It’s a vicious circle, apply bad lipbalm will feel goodfor a little bit until your lips need more because they don’t get feed well enough to be healthier. You get my point, I stop my rant and get to the recipe!

Super easy recipe to make a natural lipbalm:

Solid Shampoo for Victoria : Smoothing and nourishing

4 Jan

Hello Natural Friends!

Another Solid shampoo recipe!! I made this one for my friend Victoria. She has long dark beautiful hair that she dyes frequently. This shampoo contains olive oil which is a great conditioner so no need for more.

What is a Solid Shampoo or Shampoo Bar?

A Solid Shampoo is exactly like your usual organic shampoo except it’s solid (like a soap) and it’s more practical and more economic. Practical because it’s easy to carry it with you and travel with it. It’s small and doesn’t leak 😉 More economic because it takes a long long time to finish one.

My green and white clays - Naturoce

Hello hair lovers!

When I turned over my life and got rid of all chemicals, I did a lot of experiments to find what was suiting me the most. Nature offers us so many possibilities to take care of us and we are all different therefore, becoming natural is a slow process of discovering yourself and your body. What works what doesn’t.

Today, I’m trying clay to wash my hair.

Clay is one of these must have ingredients. Clay absorbs and that the main reason why we want it for our hair. Especially if you have greasy/oily hair. You would like to learn more about clay? Read my article here.

I bought some green clay of montmorillonite. They are a lot of different types of clay, the one I purchased is a really common one. Let’s go to the bathroom to experiment…. Continue reading

Young coconut filled with delicious water - Naturoce

Young coconut filled with delicious water – Naturoce

Hello!
I am living in Cambodia and coconuts are everywhere. So I decided to share with you some more information about this beautiful coconut water.
Almost everyday, I’m sipping from a freshly open coconut. It’s really easy here, I just have to cross the street and there is a shop selling coconuts, they opened them for you which is really cool because it’s not as easy as it looks like! Coconut water doesn’t have a strong taste and it’s really refreshing.
You find coconut water in the young coconuts. The brown hairy ones you can find in the markets back home are mature ones and won’t have water in them, or just a tiny bit.
The young coconut is green and has to be picked up in the trees. I enjoy watching the khmer climbing coconut trees like monkey would do, they are really good! The water contains all the necessary nutrients and vitamins for its growth. You understand that this water is highly nutritional. Continue reading

Daily Habits for a Healthy Hair

11 Apr

Hello hair lovers,

I haven’t used any chemical shampoo for four month! It’s been four month that I’m learning how to read the ingredients on shampoo bottles. Four month ago I was a marketing victim, today I am aware and proud to be!

In Mars 2013, I became responsible for myself and our environment. And guess what? I feel so much better in my mind and body

From one day to another I changed my beauty habits after reading an article and all its commentaries (the article is in French and I am working on its translation for you). Just on time because my bottle of shampoo was empty (the universe’s timing was perfect).

My hair June 2013 - Naturoce

My hair June 2013 – Naturoce

First, let’s introduce my hair: blond, thin, no volume, getting greasy super mega quick and fitting perfectly in the marketing categories for shampoo « volume boost » or «for oily hair » or « greasy roots/dry ends »”I had so much choices to choose from in supermarkets, lucky me! My hair has been the same for years and I got used to wash it every couple of days instead of everyday (crazy me!).

I came back from Asia a year ago and because of numerous changes (water, humidity level, food, etc.) I got dandruff or similar, it was very itchy. However, one day clean and the next awful.

I didn’t buy any anti-dandruff shampoos or other marketing remedies, I didn’t consult any doctors. What I did is learn, learn and learn more to be aware and to stop following what the society has to say about how I should care for myself. I got rid of the itchy dandruff on my own with natural ingredients.

What I learned and applied:

  • Sleeping with your hair loose so it can breathe: I used to attached my hair in a ponytail to go to bed thinking they would grease less but I was wrong, it’s way better loose. If you hair gets greasy overnight, you have to identify why: you are sweating (room too warm?, duvet too hot?), your pillow case is not so clean (you slept a few nights on it with greasy hair), other reasons. You are the one who knows. Actually it’s not only about your hair, unharmonious conditions in your bedroom can easily compromised the quality of your sleep.
  • Wash your hair less often: Getting this habit takes time. At the beginning your hair won’t be so nice but with time and patience it will become better. As well, be inventive and find some hair styles to cover the grease: ponytail, bun, hairband, headscarf, hat…
  • Ban your hair dryer, hair straightener and every other hot electrical tools for your hair: Our hair dries naturally so why would you force it with heat and consume electricity? I know that some of us have thick long curly hair or even in winter it gets cold with wet hair. Find a solution: why not using a microfiber towel to dry it?
  • Have a good hair brush (to takes care of your scalp and hair): I was brushing my hair with a simple plastic brush but discovered that it wasn’t good for thin and no volume hair. I invested in a brush with boar bristles (Denman). It’s not natural but it makes a massive difference compare to my old one: more volume and brighter hair already! Natural hairbrushes with wood pins are really good too and it will be my next investment. Different brushes for different hair.My denman brush - Naturoce
  • Learn how to read the ingredients of shampoos and other hair products: Know which ingredients are better for your hair and the ones you can use for special treatments. You need to learn how to read the ingredients list: INCI (International Nomenclature of cosmetics ingredients). In a lot of countries (Europe, USA, Japan) this list has to be written on every products sold from food to hair products. Obviously every country has its own regulations so be aware. My advice, if you don’t know how it’s made, don’t use it. Slowly learn, you will discover how many natural ingredients you already have in your kitchen that could be fantastic for your hair. I will talk about ingredients specific for hair in a next article.

All the new habits I have taken, brought me a better knowledge of my hair and scalp. Through time and lots of hair experiences, I learned what was best for my hair and scalp.

I will share with you my experiments.

And you, have you applied new healthy habits for your hair?

Have a shiny day!
